Environmental, Social, and Economic Profile Study Report of Fayoum Governorate

(Needs, Opportunities, and Resources Assessment)

Using the Participatory Rapid Appraisal (PRA) methodology, this study was conducted as part of the Enhancing the Role of Non-Governmental Organizations in Sustainable Development and Climate Action (Sustainable Empowerment) Project, implemented in partnership with Misr El Kheir Foundation and funded by the European Union.

This research study was carried out with the aim of identifying the key challenges facing local communities through active community participation. Based on this participatory approach, a collective vision was developed to identify the most effective local solutions that can mitigate the impacts of climate change, enhance environmental sustainability, and improve the quality of life for community members.

The study also serves as a knowledge resource to support the efforts of Misr El Kheir Foundation in formulating effective development policies that respond to the needs of the residents of Fayoum Governorate. It represents a reference document that enables both the institution and community members to achieve tangible and sustainable impact while strengthening the Foundation’s role as a key driver of development.

Specifically, the study provides:

  1. A strategic framework for understanding the current development situation in Fayoum Governorate.
  2. A knowledge base that supports informed and effective development decision-making.
  3. A reference guide for policymakers and civil society organizations to direct efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
